Simplifying Passenger Travel (SPT)

The Simplifying Passenger Travel (SPT) Program focuses on air travellers and facilitating their journey, emphasising the security benefits of processing 'known' passengers automatically, thereby reducing the frequency and time required by passengers in identifying themselves to various parties.

The SPT process encourages the use of the Internet, e-ticketing, RFID and biometrics. The use of an e-passport or biometrics-enhanced travel document is only a ‘token’ within the SPT process.

The Simplifying Passenger Travel Interest Group (SPTIG) is a unique multi-sectoral self-funded interest group, comprising airlines, airports, ground handlers, government authorities and technology suppliers, with the common goal to work together to develop secured and simplified passenger travel using current technology.

AAPA has been a board member of SPTIG since 2001 and is actively engaged in promoting a smooth and seamless travel experience for passengers.
