Numerous additonal requirements including new aircraft seating layout and design requirements, boarding assistance, and carriage of service animals were included in this proposal.
AAPA’s key concerns are the impracticability of certain operational recommendations, the issues of extra-territoriality of the proposed rule, and the inconsistencies with legislative and regulatory controls in other parts of the world.
AAPA participated in US DOT’s consultation process by submitting a written response and organising a dialogue session with DOT.
A final ruling is expected in mid-2007.
