In view of the current situation related to identified cases of influenza A(H1N1) reported across the globe. AAPA is closely tracking the developments of the pandemic, and working with airlines and other industry stakeholders to ensure quick dissemination of information relating to developments on the disease.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) is coordinating the global response to human cases of influenza A(H1N1) and monitoring the corresponding threat of an influenza pandemic.
In addition, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) is closely monitoring the developments of influenza A(H1N1) and currently has in place guidelines on preparation of the aviation sector for managing such public health events. These guidelines have been developed by ICAO, in consultation with WHO, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Airports Council International (ACI).
AAPA is a member of the UNWTO’s Tourism Emergency Network (TERN), a network of global travel and tourism organisations that cooperates on various initiatives to make travel and tourism safe for tourists.
